Charities

The Ringstead Gift is a Charity which comprises 27 acres of land situated in Denford Road, Ringstead.

In the Will of John Wells in 1617, a donation of 16 shillings was bequeathed, to be paid yearly and administered by the minister and churchwardens to sixteen of the poorest households in Ringstead.

Today the Charity continues as agricultural land and garden allotments with rents raised to provide Relief in Need and for the Promotion of Education.

The body of Trustees comprises five persons and a Clerk. We hold two Meetings each year, usually on the first Wednesday in June and November.

In the past, the Charity has given contributions to a large number of recipients.

The Charity has been established to provide Relief in Need for persons resident in the Parish of Ringstead.

The Promotion of Education for school children in primary and secondary education, our local village school, village children's groups, persons in further education under the age of 25 who or whose parents are resident in the village.
